Born in the summer of 1998’ in Ayrshire, Scotland, LAWRENZ (at 25 years-young) has already had a slew of live gigging experience. From 18th birthdays and young farmers dances at the local town hall, to sunset slots in Ibiza and 5000-strong crowds in a packed tent at Scotland’s notorious T in the Park festival this selecta knows how to spin a room, barn, or sweaty coffee shop and make it work. He has already supported some of dance music’s goliaths like Annie Mac (at Glasgow’s SWG3), Example (at the Barrowland), and Pendulum, amongst others, as well as playing alongside Danny Howard on BBC Radio One (all be it under another alias...).

LAWRENZ, although not tied down to any one style within his tracks, works to produce “that 92’ feeling” nostalgic vibe, combining breakbeats and hard-hitting lo-fi overdriven 909 percussions paired with the classic synth sounds and samples of the KORG M1 and 303 amongst others, hoping to frame some significant emotion in amongst grooving and grumbling drums.

Amongst his current inspirations when it comes to electronic production and DJing are Mella Dee, Dance System, Daft Punk, Mall Grab, and Ewan McVicar to name a few “basically anything with a bit of grit and groove.”.

In his notoriously fruity DJ sets, he digs deep and enjoys mixing it up, preferring (maybe due to those young farmers) to keep his scope wide and mind open to endless possibilities, pairing Studio 54 high energy weapons with heavier driving techno bangers, and breaking things up with the occasional spot of jazz, classical, or breakbeat.
